Karen McGrane, Bond Art + Science

Steer clear of last-minute panic by planning ahead for content creation.

Web content: it’s the meat in the sandwich, not the icing on the cake. So why does planning for useful, usable content get short shrift in the design and development process? Thinking about the content is always left until the last minute, always thought to be “somebody else’s problem.”  Teams are forced into crisis mode at the 11th hour, trying to deal with content that arrives too late, doesn't fit in the designs, or fails to live up to user expectations. In this session, User Experience expert Karen McGrane will talk about why we fail to plan for content, and how everyone involved can help make the process run more smoothly.

1:00 pm - 4:00pmAdobe Workshop: Design HTML websites and publications for the iPad without writing code!
Under the gun to deliver your designs for print, websites and now iPads? Adobe has been hard at work developing some new technologies that will allow you to design HTML websites or immersive publications for the iPad, as easily as if you were laying out a page in InDesign. This workshop will introduce you to two new technologies that really do make designing digital experiences as easy as designing for print.

  • See how you can design and publish HTML websites without writing code. Seriously! Muse (code name) is new from Adobe, and will let you design visually unique, highly interactive HTML websites as easily as layout out a page in InDesign.
  • Plus, learn how you can use your existing InDesign skills (along with some new features) to design highly interactive publications (like the Wired magazine app). You will also learn how to share your app design with clients - who will be able to view it on the iPad to review - directly from InDesign. And finally, see how to publish your design as an app via the iTunes store using the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
